Hustle Believe Receive

In Hustle Believe Receive, Sarah Centrella, author of the internationally popular blog Thoughts.Stories.Life., proves that anyone, no matter where they start from, can change their life, achieve success, and live their dream.

As a single mom living on food stamps, Sarah completely changed her life of poverty to enable her to live her dream in just eighteen months. Sarah discovered the tools to change her life after her husband abandoned her and their three small children in 2008. Her story has impacted hundreds of thousands worldwide, through her simple eight-step plan for achieving success known as the #HBRMethod.

The book features fifty-one inspiring stories of people who believe in Sarah’s message, each of whom she personally interviewed for this book. They include: NFL star running back, Jonathan Stewart; NBA power forward Anthony Tolliver; famed artist Victor Matthews; best-selling author Laura Munson; middle weight world boxing champion, Daniel Jacobs; CEO, Ryan Blair; and Morgan Stanley executive director Kimberley Hatchett, among many others. Hustle Believe Receive shows how these stories are connected, and how Sarah, a single mom from Oregon, manages to bring them all together in the most unlikely way.

Hustle Believe Receive contains true tales of how real people are living the impossible. This book answers the question of “How did they do that?” and, more importantly, how you can too.

Switching Time

One afternoon in 1989, Karen Overhill walks into psychiatrist Richard Baer’s office complaining of vague physical pains and depression. Odder still, she reveals that she’s suffering from a persistent memory problem. Routinely, she “loses” parts of her day, finding herself in places she doesn’t remember going to or being told about conversations she doesn’t remember having. Her problems are so pervasive that she often feels like an impersonator in her own life; she doesn’t recognize the people who call themselves her friends, and she can’t even remember being intimate with her own husband.

Baer recognizes that Karen is on the verge of suicide and, while trying various medications to keep her alive, attempts to discover the root cause of her strange complaints. It’s the work of months, and then years, to gain Karen’s trust and learn the true extent of the trauma buried in her past. What she eventually reveals is nearly beyond belief, a narrative of a childhood spent grappling with unimaginable horror. How has Karen survived with even a tenuous grasp on sanity?

Then Baer receives an envelope in the mail. It’s marked with Karen’s return address but contains a letter from a little girl who writes that she’s seven years old and lives inside of Karen. Soon Baer receives letters from others claiming to be parts of Karen. Under hypnosis, these alternate Karen personalities reveal themselves in shocking variety and with undeniable traits—both physical and psychological. One “alter” is a young boy filled with frightening aggression; another an adult male who considers himself Karen’s protector; and a third a sassy flirt who seeks dominance over the others. It’s only by compartmentalizing her pain, guilt, and fear in this fashion—by “switching time” with alternate selves as the situation warrants—that Karen has been able to function since childhood.

Realizing that his patient represents an extreme case of multiple personality disorder, Baer faces the daunting task of creating a therapy that will make Karen whole again. Somehow, in fact, he must gain the trust of each of Karen’s seventeen “alters” and convince them of the necessity of their own annihilation.

As powerful as Sybil or The Three Faces of EveSwitching Time is the first complete account of such therapy to be told from the perspective of the treating physician, a stunningly devoted healer who worked selflessly for decades so that Karen could one day live as a single human being.

Onyx Webb The Series - 5 Star Award Winner Authors Talk About It Contest

Delectably Creepy. Gripping. Fascinating. Get Entangled in Onyx Webb: An Addictive New Paranormal Suspense Series

Onyx Webb is a multi-genre mash-up that combines supernatural suspense, crime, horror, romance, and more.

Onyx Webb is a ghost. Billionaire playboy Koda Mulvaney becomes obsessed with a girl he sees inside a mirror. Juniper Cole is on her way to the prom and... well, we don't want to spoil anything - we've probably told you too much already. How all these events are related is part of the mystery that is, Onyx Webb.
The Onyx Webb series follows the unusual life of Onyx Webb along with a central group of characters in various locations and times. The billionaire Mulvaney family, piano prodigy Juniper Cole and her brother Quinn, paranormal show hosts Cryer and Fudge, and a few others make up the core of the series. Written like a book version of a supernatural soap opera (think: American Horror Story) each character’s story moves forward with most every episode.
It may appear that the characters are entirely unrelated and yet episode by episode, the connections will become clearer. Like being an inch away from a spider web, with each book, the web will move further and further away revealing the full story of every character and most importantly, the stunning conclusion for Onyx Webb herself.

˃˃˃ Interested in Knowing More? Rose says...

"This story had danger, intrigue, love, betrayal, and a graphic novel sensibility that appealed to me, personally, on every level. Honestly, I couldn’t put it down, and my dismay at reaching the last page quickly turned to determination as I found my way to Amazon to download the second book. In conclusion, I can only say that as an author, I wish I’d written Onyx Webb, and give Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz major kudos for a job extremely well done." - Rose Shababy, Author & Book Blogger

The Happiness of Pursuit

A remarkable book that will both guide and inspire, The Happiness of Pursuit reveals how anyone can bring meaning into their life by undertaking a quest.

When he set out to visit all of the planet’s countries by age thirty-five, compulsive goal seeker Chris Guillebeau never imagined that his journey’s biggest revelation would be how many people like himself exist – each pursuing a challenging quest.  And, interestingly, these quests aren’t just travel-oriented.  On the contrary, they’re as diverse as humanity itself.  Some involve exploration; others the pursuit of athletic or artistic excellence; still others a battle against injustice or poverty or threats to the environment.

Everywhere that Chris visited he found ordinary people working toward extraordinary goals, making daily down payments on their dream.  These “questers” included a suburban mom pursuing a wildly ambitious culinary project, a DJ producing the world’s largest symphony, a young widower completing the tasks his wife would never accomplish, and a teenager crossing an entire ocean alone - as well as a do-it-yourselfer tackling M.I.T.’s computer-science course, a nerd turning himself into real-life James Bond, and scores of others writing themselves into the record books.

The more Chris spoke with these strivers, the more he began to appreciate the direct link between questing and long-term happiness -- how going after something in a methodical way enriches our lives -- and he was compelled to complete a comprehensive study of the phenomenon and extract the best advice.  In The Happiness of Pursuit he draws on interviews with hundreds of questers, revealing their secret motivations, their selection criteria, the role played by friends and family, their tricks for solving logistics, and the importance of documentation.

Equally fascinating is Chris’ examination of questing’s other side, including questers’ acute awareness of mortality, their struggle against monotony, and their wistful feelings once a quest has succeeded. What happens after the summit is climbed, the painting hung, the endurance record broken, the “at risk” community saved?

A book that challenges each of us to take control – to make our lives be about something while at the same time remaining clear-eyed about the commitment -- The Happiness of Pursuit will inspire readers of every age and aspiration.  It’s a playbook for making your life count.

The Homeport Journals

Fleeing New York City and an abusive partner, would-be writer Marc Nugent finds work at HomePort, the Provincetown mansion of Lola Staunton, a fabulously wealthy recluse. Aided by an attractive-but-unattainable artist and an all-too-available cross-dresser, Marc investigates accusations of rape and murder that have estranged Lola from a childhood friend for more than sixty years. Past and present converge when a long-lost journal reveals tales of infidelity, adultery, and passion that mirror the life Marc has recently abandoned. When his ex-lover arrives in search of revenge, Marc must confront his past, his notions of family, and his capacity for love. Evocative, funny and heartfelt, The HomePort Journals will be to Provincetown what Tales of the City is to San Francisco. - William J. Mann Author, The Men from the Boys series. A cockeyed, full-hearted Provincetown fantasia, The Homeport Journals combines history and romance with a dash of wit and a firm belief that in some magical places there is always a second chance- for love and for art. -Heidi Jon Schmidt Author, The House on Oyster Creek

Reviews and Judging
Books are assigned to Authors Talk About It reviewers and the review and area ratings and overall number of stars will be emailed to the author (or representative) within 4-6 weeks after submission. Ratings range from 2-5 stars.  Anything less than 4 stars is written as a critique with helpful comments as well as pointing out the positives of the book.  Though we do not give 1 star ratings, the reviews are honest and when necessary, are meant to offer constructive criticism.
Star ratings are based on the following areas:
  1. Appearance – cover, chapter headings, images/illustrations, etc.
  2. Plot/Concept – consistent tone, clear theme, etc.
  3. Development – realism, smooth progression, organization, etc.
  4. Description of Scenes or Concepts – vividness, smooth transitions, etc.
  5. Grammar/Typos – well written or numerous errors
  6. Target Fit – good fit for the target audience
  7. Overall – an average of the above 6 areas
The staff of Authors Talk About It will select five finalists for each category.  They will then make a final decision on winners after comparing the ratings in the six main areas and the overall ratings.  *If for any reason, there is only one entry in a category that does not guarantee a first place win.  The author must earn his/her win by writing a high quality book.  All rating areas are looked at before a decision is made.

What are you waiting for?  Enter NOW!
Good Luck we and our reviewers look forward to reading your books!
